Patient Participation Group

Join Our PPG

We invite patients to join our Patient Participation Group (PPG) and play an active role in helping us develop the practice. Members meet with the practice team from time to time to discuss matters that are important to patients. If you are interested in joining, please contact us at the surgery.

Why Have a Group?

General practice is evolving under new NHS initiatives and continues to face challenging government objectives and priorities. It remains the most frequently used point of access within the NHS, with around 90% of patients diagnosed and treated without referral to specialist services.

Government policy aims to improve access, enhance local service delivery, and reflect greater patient choice. As healthcare is brought closer to patients, practices are expected to deliver more each year, often with limited additional resources. It is therefore vital that these resources are used wisely and that the patient perspective is considered in decision‑making.

What the Group Does

The PPG provides a forum for collaboration between patients and the practice. Its work includes:

  • Considering service improvements that could benefit individuals or groups of patients
  • Offering a patient perspective on practice priorities and resource allocation
  • Reviewing and discussing patient satisfaction surveys, and helping to identify solutions to concerns raised
  • Acting as a sounding board for future plans and developments within the surgery
  • Supporting better communication between patients and the practice
  • Discussing operational issues that affect patient care

What the Group Cannot Do

The PPG is not a forum for pursuing individual agendas or personal complaints. Complaints must be made directly to the practice in line with the NHS Complaints Procedure and will be handled confidentially.
